SHEFFIELD born Clinton Woods (born May 1, 1972) was the current IBF Light Heavyweight champion of the world - a title he gained in March, 2005 by defeating Rico Hoye.
He had defended his title in victories against Australia's Jason DeLisle, Jamaican Glen Johnson and twice against Mexican Julio César González - including a superb win on September 29, 2007, at Sheffield Arena.
He is a Sheffield Wednesday fan and has paraded his belts at home games.
Clinton, who grew up in tough surroundings, trains on the Gleadless Valley estate. His trainer, one of the best in the business, is Richard Poxon. Clinton is managed by Dennis Hobson, another avid Wednesday fan.
Clinton, married with a son and a daughter, has four brothers and two sisters. He was educated at Westfield Upper school, Mosborough, Sheffield.
His fight record is 39 wins (23 by knockout), 3 losses and 1 draw.
