BRENDAN Ingle, MBE (June 19, 1941 in Dublin, Ireland) is one of Sheffield's sporting legends - a former professional boxer and a boxing manager and trainer to world champions.
Herol 'Bomber' Graham, undefeated in ten years, is what Brendan would call "the best person to come out of our gym," although perhaps Brendan is best known for being Prince Naseem Hamed's mentor from the age of seven to 25.
He has also trained current former WBO Cruiserweight world champ, Johnny Nelson, IBF Light Heavyweight world champ Clinton Woods and, with son John Ingle, he is the current trainer of WBC Light Welterweight world champ Junior Witter.
He lives in Wincobank, Sheffield, just across the road from his gym, St. Thomas' Boys and Girls Club.
Brendan came from a large family in the heart of 1940s Dublin, Ireland, and has lectured at Sheffield Hallam University.
